Caprichos-Desastres
Whims and Misfortune
Caprichos - Desastres reminds the audience of the madness we seem not to be able to escape. The absurd tableaus of Goya are more than weird fantasies: they are subtle comments on his time. Subjects that were urgent then—war, power of the church, freedom of speech—still are. In Caprichos - Desastres by Sauer, Post & Mulder the creatures of Goya's etchings come alive: deadened priests, maja's, inquisiteurs and donkeys. The performance links up scenes, peep-show tableaus with jumping chickens, a videowall providing commentary, geraushmachers and music.

Premiere: January 12th to 20th, 2007, in the Rotterdam Schouwburg. See calendar for upcoming performances.
